The CEE Water Conservation Project, supported by WIN Foundation, began on August 25 and empowers communities to manage water sustainably through awareness, training, and hands-on interventions. Focusing on rainwater harvesting, watershed management, and responsible water use, the project helps villages conserve water, enhance agricultural productivity, and strengthen resilience against scarcity. Community participation is central, ensuring lasting impact and local ownership. The project will be implemented in 10 villages of Kalawad block, Jamnagar, Gujarat—Maccharda, Sadodar, Kalyanpur, Bodi, Makrani, Sanosara, Dhundhoraji, Panchdevda, Bhojabedi, and Sogathi. Local Community Resource Persons (2 per village) are being identified to support project activities.
At Kachchh University, a formal one year university diploma course on PGWM is now in 2nd year. WIN Foundation, through a tripartite agreement with Kachchh University and ACT, is offering a fellowship for students outside Gujarat to join the one-year Diploma in Participatory Groundwater Management (PGWM), with an internship with ACT. The course combines hydrogeology, community-based water management, and hands-on fieldwork. It aims to build skilled professionals with a pan-India perspective on groundwater issues. WIN FounFoundation has also provided support for an online material prepapreparation and broadcast centre, as well as a field demonstration centre, both located within Kachchh University.
