Dear Friends,
We are pleased to bring you the April 2026 newsletter of WIN Foundation.
As summer months are nearing its peak, the below par monsoon prediction by IMD and the supply chain disruption caused by the turbulence in the Middle East have caused worry particularly for our agriculture.
India has built resilient support structures which still protect a large part of our agricultural output. However, millions of farmers and their families still depend on monsoon, and supply chains for agricultural inputs like fertilizers are critical. Grassroot level resilience becomes very important in this context.
Our nutri-garden program promotes such resilience in multiple ways. It empowers our women to bring a strong family nutrition focus with nutritious plants and herbs. Nature based Soil health enhancement reduces costs and water consumption. The healthy and pesticides free vegetables and herbs build stronger family nutrition. The practice oriented knowledge helps women to pilot such practices in main farming, laying the foundation for long term future agriculture income growth and resilience. As we have received enthusiastic response from community women members, we are now deepening the project to achieve higher penetration and scale.
WIN is also launching a 3D water modelling project using open source tools to better understand and predict groundwater and surface water availability.
We continue to build our NutriShakti knowledge bank, with suitable videos, and other planning material which can help individuals, families, restaurants, schools, etc., to plan for tasty, balanced nutritious items and diets in today’s complex and irregular lifestyle, in a practical manner. This bridges the gap between highly complex research papers and very basic content, with technically rich content expressed in simple easy to follow language.
Our participatory water conservation project is now extended to villages in Kalavad block, Jamnagar district. As usual they are led by the village level young men and women, guided by our partner, Centre for Environment Education (CEE) tech, with technical expertise from ACT.
We look forward to your feedback, as well as suggestions for any collaborations to make a difference, for the better India.
With warm regards and Jai Hind
