3D Aquifer Modeling for Smarter Water Use
Ongoing project - in collaboration with Arid Communities & Technologies, Bhuj, focuses on the Kankavati aquifer in Kutch, an important water source in this arid region.
WIN Foundation has taken an inititive to prepare a 3D groundwater–surface water model that can virtually explain how rainfall drives inflow and how water is consumed across seasons for agricultural and domestic purposes by the locals. A trial study using suitable GIS and GUI based tools, which can help and build surface and sub-surface models, is currently underway in the Mundra region. Alongside this, we are trying to develop a data system for automated integration of crowdsourced field information into the 3D hydrogeological framework.
These efforts aim to give farmers and decisionmakers a clear picture of water availability, helping them plan productive use of resources without exhausting them.
