3D Water Modelling of Bidada Village (Kankavati Aquifer Region, Kutch)
WIN Foundation, in collaboration with Arid Communities Technologies (ACT), Bhuj, is making steady progress in developing a live interactive 3D water model for Bidada Village using MODFLOW-6, Blender and Unity. The project is currently focused on integrating hydrogeological data and refining the model to accurately visualize groundwater movement and estimate the village's water budget. Once completed, the model will serve as a valuable decision-support tool for sustainable water resource management, while also strengthening the capacity of local farmers, researchers, and decision-makers to address water stress through scientific planning and evidence-based conservation.
WIN Foundation is also in the process of developing a Centralized Groundwater Management Dashboard, a web-based GIS platform that integrates groundwater databases with interactive visualizations to support data-driven decision-making. Mentored by Dr. Vikrant Jain (IIT Gandhinagar) and Mr. Paresh Vora, supervised by Dr. Shailja Singh, and co-developed with intern Shreyasi Soumya, the dashboard is being designed with user-friendly analytical tools and integrated datasets. Once completed, it will serve as a valuable resource for researchers, planners, and field teams by simplifying groundwater data management and providing easy access to critical information for planning, monitoring, and sustainable water resource management.
Water conservation Project with CEE - Kalavad
The Water Conservation Project, supported by WIN Foundation in partnership with the Centre for Environment Education (CEE), successfully completed Phase 1 in the villages of Kalawad Block, Jamnagar District, Gujarat. During this phase, Village Water Security Plans (VWSPs) were prepared, village institutions and Community Resource Persons (CRPs) were strengthened, and communities were mobilized to adopt sustainable water conservation practices. Building on these achievements, the project is now entering Phase 2, which will focus on implementing priority water conservation interventions, enhancing groundwater recharge, strengthening community participation, and improving long-term water security and climate resilience across the project villages.
